Im in my light body
with my cherokee blood.
My black soul reminded of
when I escaped from the hoods.
Drifting on water
stolen from illegals.
Wind from the flight
of Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
I can hear
Robert Pirsigs motorcycle pass.
I drink water
turned wine from an outdated flask.
I discuss Taoism
with tigger and Winnie the Pooh
as eye stare at the stars
on my back in a canoe.
I think we have read a lot of the same books! I enjoyed this poem very much. Life from the bottom of a canoe - a great perspective!
ReplyDeleteRon - you crack me up. that's what happens when you hang with Tigger and Winnie

ReplyDeleteNext time I'm in a canoe, I'm going to try looking at the world from this perspective. It's quirky...and it's intriguing.
ReplyDeleteThere's always "The Tao of Pooh" by Benjamin Hoff, if you haven't already read it.
ReplyDeleteNice One Shot, Theron!
in a canoe..
ReplyDeletewhat we know
we just don't know
the world turns around
in the face of the moon
soon
it will hide again
into a cresent

Like the rhyme in this one, would go very well with music, I think.
ReplyDeleteI loved this one too.. and I have loved the book by Richard Bach including this one, the "One" and I think the best one by Richard Bach was "The Illusions"
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me of the same..

"Wind from the flight
ReplyDeleteof Jonathan Livingston Seagull"
Great line that both adds to the overall meaning and imagery. Fine poem.
Nothing mixes with dark like dry humor--it's the peanut butter in the chocolate, and this poem is like wine in the glass. Nice.
