Flyfishing In Retrospect

Photo by Torbjørn Ekelund on Unsplash

She had plans
dreams, ambitions,

in which love had no
secure position
offered no real security
She was raised for heroinism
is that hero to those

who didn't know
any other way to pay
no time for play
no room for heart
especially not for a poet
a starving artist
the most no-nonsense
among her friends
a cure for her intellectual boredom
there came a time when
she chose to ignore him
it took all the strength she could manage
she didn't easily heal from the damage
he is still a missing peace
although she is not lonely
although she loves again
his words still make her feverish
her curiosity made her vulnerable to this
life got practically better
she found many ways to forget
he found it hard not to remember
through many lovers, she lingered
in time they both adjusted
the beat of the love was still percussive
at least in his rhymes
anonymous was a woman
more than one time
he loved her truly
in time he healed
her plans for a better man
were fully fulfilled
accept for his words
they tasted like breakfast at tiffany's
ended like a lightning crash
flashed like a masterful symphony
she was the 2-year fairy tale
he previously wrote
she was physical catharsis
the evolution of an artist
or a chemical symptom
the facts were stranger than fiction

  2. Wow! If I called this relatable, it would be an understatement...the rhythm in your words is always the cement that makes them stick...fantastic flow, music in your soul...even if the song may be sad...awesome! You got me...hook, line and...fly ;)

  3. you definitely caught me right from the start. your words flow quite beautifully. I felt the ending really drove the piece home.

The 5 People Who Make Life Heaven

They listen when you need to talk Talk when you need to listen They know your darkness Let you know theirs Without judgement and expectation You can talk to them about how you see things They don't get angry or anxious when you disagree Trust you enough to say what they really think Read tweets and novels Never make you beg or grovel Won't allow it Remind you that you're better than that Lay some of their burden on you Let you behind their wall Feel welcome behind yours You feel each other with heart and mind Even if you don't explain yourself  They get you You get them These are the ones that make life worth living Make you love to be alive Reflect you to you Teach and learn Some days the lead singer Some days the band These are the ones You can count on one hand (c) Ron Kennedy

Poetry Tree

I saw no birds grieve No fallen leaves No branches on the ground None made a sound It wasn’t rotten It didn’t die in a storm Capitalism came In its progress form To take one of my last  Best refuges from me I may be the only one who noticed The death of my poetry tree.

Stargazing
